How do I apply for an infant or primary school place?
If you want to apply for a school place for September 2024, you will be able to apply from Wednesday 6 September 2023.

Apply for an infant or primary school place
To apply for a Reception place for your child in September 2024, you can:
- Apply online
- complete a WORD version of form SA1 application form (Word 66KB), which can be completed electronically and sent to School Admissions by email to school.admissions@cumberland.gov.uk
- download the PDF version of the application form (PDF 267KB) and return it either to your child's preferred school or send it to School Admissions at:

The closing date for applications is 15 January 2024.
If you live in Cumberland and your child was born between 1 September 2019 and 31 August 2020, they will be due to start school in Reception year group in September 2024. You must apply to Cumberland Council for a place.
Apply for a secondary school place
To apply for a Year 7 place for your child in September 2024, you can:
- Apply online
- complete a WORD version of form SA3 application form (Word 65KB), which can be completed electronically and sent to School Admissions by email to: school.admissions@cumberland.gov.uk
- download the PDF version of the application form (PDF 267KB) and return it either to your child's preferred school or send it to School Admissions at:

The online application process closes on 31 October 2023.
Applications received after 31 October 2023 will be treated as late applications. This means that they will not be considered until we have dealt with all timely applications and allocated places to these applicants.
If you submit a late application after 31 October 2023 but before 5 January 2024 and you feel that there are exceptional reasons that prevented you from submitting your application on time, you must provide an explanation of these reasons and provide independent proof to confirm your circumstances. These reasons will be considered and, if accepted, your application will be considered along with the timely applications. If they are not accepted, or if you do not provide the information required to confirm your exceptional circumstances until after 5 January 2024, your application will continue to be considered as late.
