Paper Play (November ‘23)
This half term, Windermere’s art unit has been ‘paper play’. We’ve learnt different techniques and methods such as ‘rolling’, ‘bending’ and ‘concertina’ to shape paper and use it to create 3D pictures. We’ve worked as groups to create tube towers and a HUGE newspaper spider that we are incredibly proud of! 🕷️🕸️
Felt Flowers 🌸🌼 (May ‘23)
On Wednesday 3rd May, Julie Harrison came into school to show us how to make our own felt flowers.
To make our flowers, we started off by pulling small wispy pieces of coloured wool and layered it up on linen to make it very thick. Once it was all layered up, we got to the messy part! We had to hold down our flower whilst warm soapy water was added. Once it was all soaking wet, we had to rub our hands onto a bar of soap and rub in small circles. We had to keep checking to see if had stuck together. Once it was all stuck, we peeled it off our linen, rolled it up and fanned it out to create a flower shape. We were so delighted with our completed flowers!
Clarice Cliff Study (April ‘23)
We loved learning about the life and work of famous ceramic artist, Clarice Cliff. We took inspiration from her ‘Circle Tree’ design to create these wonderful tiles!
