Changes Within Living Memory - Shops (November ‘23)
This half term’s history unit in Windermere class is ‘changes within living memory’, with a focus on shops. We started the unit by looking at how we change over our lifetime (from babies up until elderly) and then studied our local community of Aspatria, focusing on current shops and communal buildings. We then studied how shops and shopping has changed from the 1950’s until present times. Mrs Riddick (one of our school governors) also came in to tell us her first hand experiences of how Aspatria has changed over the last four decades!
Miss Bradley set up a 1990s/2000s technology shop displaying the technology that she used to use when she was a child / teenager. It was interesting to hear the children’s reactions as to what each item was!
