Cricket tournament at Beacon Hill
We enjoyed an after SAT’s treat, we got out the classroom to play cricket with some other primary schools at Beacon Hill, it was really good fun and we all enjoyed it.
Dance Festival - 8th February 2024
Crummock and Derwent class were invited to Crosscannoby school to participate in a dance festival hosted by Andy Conkey. The festival was a celebration of not only our dance skills that we developed but also our music knowledge.
Pupils choreographed their own dances, paying attention to the tempo, pitch and dynamics of the music to help make decisions about dance moves they used.
We had a fantastic afternoon performing for an audience and observing different dance routines from other schools. We also had the opportunity to dance with pupils who attended Crosscannonby school, some of whom our Y6 pupils will transition to secondary school alongside.

Silloth Hockey Tournament
We really enjoyed attending the Silloth Hockey Tournement and are really proud to announce that we were able to come 3rd out of all the schools that attended. We won 3 games, drew 2 and lost 2, everyone really put their heart and sole into each game and played their hearts out, well done guys 🥳🤩🥳
Swimming Week - 9th - 13th October
This week pupils from Y2 - Y6 have attended swimming lessons each morning. The children have really enjoyed the sessions, developing and in some cases perfecting, swimming strokes. It’s been fantastic to see their confidence grow and we are looking forward to returning for our second swimming block in Summer.
Silloth Cross Country
The children showed great character and resilience at the cross country. The weather was awful but it didn’t put them off, they ran their little hearts out and cheers so loudly for each other, it was great to see.
Taekwondo
Luke came back to visit us, he is an ex pupil and also visited us last year to lead a Taekwondo session, the kids enjoyed it just as much as last time. They all worked really hard and had loads of fun at the same time, as you can see from the pictures of video.

Y5&6 Football tournament at Silloth
Our football team were a credit to the school today, regardless of how wet it was there was absolutely no grumbling. They demonstrated their resilience and determination against some much bigger schools and played their socks off. There was plenty of team spirt and camaraderie which allowed us to finished 4th after playing 10 games. I’d also like to congratulate the parents who came and cheered us on and showed similar resilience despite the weather.
Swimming at Workington
We have just completed our second week this year of swimming practice at Workington Pool. The kids have had a fantastic time improving all their skills, we’ve all become more confident in the water over the last week, improving our stamina and we are all able to swim that bit further than we could at the beginning of the week.
Cross Country at Silloth
Pupils in KS2 had the opportunity to join seven other schools within our cluster to take part in a cross country event hosted by Solway Community School. The children took part in a Y3/4 Girls race, Y3/4 boys race, Y5/6 girls race and Y5/6 boys race. The children had a fantastic afternoon and their behaviour was exemplary. We are so proud of each pupil who challenged themselves to take part 😊
Swimming - November 2022
We've had a wonderful but intense week swimming at Workington Leisure Centre this week. Crummock and Derwentwater have been swimming every morning, this has certainly been exhausting for some, nevertheless, they've all worked really hard and persevered so that everybody's swimming stamina has improved immensely. Congratulations to all our swimmers, you've been great! I think we can also admit that we had lots of fun too!
